We lost our wonderful husband, daddy and grandpa, Tuesday night from complications of heart surgery.

Wayne loved the Lord and was a dedicated member of the Oakhurst Full Gospel Church where he helped the youth of the Awana Club, was a servant of the men's group and everything else to help at church. He was a Proud Papaw Baker of snickerdoodle cookies and brownies for all the congregation children.

He was a master handyman and could build anything you brought to him. He had a great passion & won many trophies for hunting and fishing. He was a member of the Huntsville Bass Club for many years. He loved gardening and taking care of his yard. He was a really hard worker, he never stopped.

Wayne's greatest pleasure & pride was his family & adoring great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents Annie Bell Jeffrey's, Charles Henry Smith, and six sisters.

Those remaining to cherish his memories are his wife Barbara Barnes Smith, brother Bud Smith, daughter Dana Peterson, son Brandon and wife Heidi Smith, sister-in-law Bobbie Coburn and husband John, brother-in-law Robert Barnes. Grandchildren: David Peterson, Ryan Peterson, Cassie Smith, Natalee Smith. Great-grandchildren: Anneliese Joy Peterson, Caroline Grace Peterson, Abigail Hope Peterson and many nieces, nephews, and friends that loved him. Wayne was a big part of their lives growing up.
