Obituary

Virginia Lee Cooper was born on September 15, 1949 to Earl and Ruby Ellisor Yeager. She went to be with the Lord on August 11, 2025. She is survived by her husband of 49 years and 6 months John Cooper, one son Clark Driver and wife Aleta and four grandchildren, as well as four god children she adored. She was a member of Phelps Methodist Church.

She graduated from Huntsville High School in 1968 and has remained close with several friends from her graduating class. She worked for Champion International Paper until her retirement at age 55. She loved to travel and go deer hunting. Later she started making quilts and going to quilt retreats with friends. Most of all she loved doing things with her grandchildren and god children.

She talked John into going to Hawaii on their 5th anniversary, which created her interest in travel. They traveled to Alaska, and then many more trips with her friends to destinations including England, Scotland, Ireland and Wales. A special trip to France focused on Normandy and seeing the beach where her mother, a nurse in WWII, landed shortly after D Day. She felt this was the trip of a lifetime. She also took several Caribbean Cruises. She and John spent every summer in Colorado for 24 years.

She was highly respected as a quilter. One of her quilts, made in memory of her mother, was chosen for display at the Houston International Quilt Festival in 2024, and she taught others to quilt and enjoy her skills. She left a legacy of love and friendship to all who knew her.

Pallbearers will be Clark Driver, Spencer Savoy, Slaton Savoy, Clarence Cooper, Scott Rohe and Wes Rasbeary.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Blackjack Cemetery Association, P.O. Box 918, Huntsville Texas 77342.
