Obituary

Mary Trinell Barrum passed peacefully in her sleep at 3:16 am on Friday morning in the Creekside Rehabilitation Center in Huntsville, Texas.

Trinell was born Mary Trinell Dufour on May 7, 1942, as one of three children to her parents, Lowney and Nelva Dufour. She was raised in Port Arthur, Texas alongside her two brothers, Gary and Roger Dufour.  She was crowned the Golden Triangle's "CavOilcade Queen" in 1959 and led the prestigious annual parade through the tri-county area as the Grand Marshall honoree. This tradition continues today.

Trinell graduated nursing school in 1963 as a Registered Nurse and devoted over 50 years of her life to caring for others. She served almost two decades in ER, OR and private Medicine, before finishing her impactful career as a beloved school nurse. She poured the same love and compassion she had as a mother into her students at multiple elementary schools throughout Huntsville, including stints at Gibbs and Sam Houston Elementary, for a total of over 25 years.

In August of 1963, she married James Allen Barrum. After a blessed marriage lasting nearly half a century, they are now survived by three sons. James with his wife Diane, Craig with his wife Michele, and Chad with his wife Nancy: six beautiful grandchildren, Hannah, Holden, Harper, Avery, Palmer and Logyn Barrum. She was preceded in death by her husband James, her daughter Robyn and both of her parents. Trinell was a devout follower of Christ and known for her infinite kindness, deep compassion, and unwavering faith.

Friends and family are invited to attend her visitation service on Tuesday evening, November 12th, from 5 PM until 7 PM at Heritage Oak Funeral Home in Huntsville. They are also invited to her funeral mass and service at 11 AM, on Wednesday, November 13th at St. Thomas Catholic Church.
