Terry Sue Gates, 64, of Trinity, TX, peacefully departed from this world on April 12, 2024, surrounded by family.

Born on September 28, 1959 in Huntsville, TX, Terry was the daughter of Kenneth and Sue Woods. In 2007, she married Troy Gates, embarking on a new journey of love and devotion that spanned nearly 17 years.

Together with Troy, Terry built a life filled with love, laughter, and shared memories. She was a devoted mother to her children, William Hardin, Ryan Jordan (Stephanie), and Stormi Akridge. Her love extended to her stepchildren, James Gates (Amanda) and Haley Carter (Matt), whom she welcomed into her heart with open arms.

Terry found immense joy in her role as a grandmother. She leaves behind a legacy of love that will forever be treasured by her grandchildren, Taylor, Nathan, and the late Madison Hardin; Frankie Jordan; Aubrey Gates; Makayla Williams; Cason Carter; and Hunter Hardin, her great-grandson.

Terry is survived by her spouse, children, grandchildren, great-grandson, aunt Carolyn Karr and spouse George, aunt Velma Coleman, and numerous family members and friends, including Kaycee Burgess who was like a daughter to her.

Terry found delight in cheering on her beloved Dallas Cowboys, sharing many memorable game days with family and friends. Terry treasured camping trips with Troy and the grandkids and could often be found fishing. Additionally, Terry enjoyed spending time with her mom and friends while playing bingo.

Terry was preceded in death by her first husband, Ira Hardin; her parents, Kenneth and Sue Woods; her brother, Kenneth Jr.; her granddaughter, Madison Hardin; her uncle, Doyle Ray Coleman; her cousin Douglas Coleman; and her brother-in-law Daniel Garcia.

Though Terry's physical presence may be gone, her spirit will live on in the countless lives she touched. May she find eternal peace in the arms of her loved ones who have passed before her, and may her memory continue to bring comfort and solace to those who mourn her loss.

A graveside service to celebrate Terry's life will be held on April 19, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at Clapp Cemetery in Trinity, TX. All who knew and loved Terry are invited to join in honoring her memory.

Terry Sue Gates will be deeply missed but never forgotten. May she rest in peace, surrounded by the love and memories she leaves behind.
