Suzanne
Shepard
Sep 4, 1944 — Sep 17, 2022
Suzanne H. Herndon received an invitation to heaven on Saturday, September 17, 2022, she was surrounded by family. Suzanne was born on September 4, 1944, in Mississippi to Laura Lee Huthchins Herndon and William C. "Dub" Herndon. Suzy and sister Mary, loved visiting their Aunt Alice's and Uncle W. D.'s farm in Flora, Mississippi. Suzy loved her sister Mary, Cliff, her mother Laura Lee, and her father William C. Herndon. I can remember at an early age how my mother would light up when her father, William C. Herndon walked in the room. She taught her children the importance of Faith in God and family. Our mother had one of the strongest Faiths and she believed no matter what you were going through, God would see you through it. She spent many years serving God first as Director of Wesley Community Center and then at St. John's United Methodist Church. Suzy had a special bond with her sister Mary and it was no coincidence that she passed around the time my Aunt Mary and her would have coffee together in Ben Bolt. Her favorite season was Christmas and gathering with family. She loved watching Christmas Hallmark movies. It was also not a coincidence as I turned on the TV to Hallmark in her room on September 17, 2022, a Christmas movie was playing. She had a love for writing poetry, wrote a production of the "Follies", and had even started to write a book. Suzanne Shepard was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Lee Woodson, her brother, Captain William Cliff Herndon, her parents W.C. "Dub" Herndon and Laura Lee Herndon. Suzanne is survived by her daughters Dana Leigh (husband Eric Caldwell), Gretchen Celeste (husband Craig Joseph Christel), son Kevin Dale (wife Cristina Shepard), grandson Clint Joseph Christel ( wife Heather Christel) Keiron Shepard, granddaughters, Haley Marie Cote(husband Drake Cote), and Camille Cardwell, and two great-granddaughters Hadley Diane Christel, Calloway Grace Cote, and numerous nieces and nephews.
