Sherry
Andrews
Aug 28, 1945 — Mar 16, 2025
Huntsville
Jo (Sherry) Shermaine (Charlton) Andrews was born August 28, 1945 and went home to be with her Lord March 16, 2025.
After graduation in 1963 from Nederland High School, Sherry went to work for Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. in Houston, TX. She transferred to the Beaumont office to be closer to home and bought her first Mustang from Wade Andrews whom she later married in 1966. Wade and Sherry lived and worked in many different cities and state. They settled in Alexandria, Louisiana in 1983 where they established their own business, a professional and financial consulting firm.
Following the death of her husband, Sherry moved back to Texas to be with her family and friends. Sherry had several different jobs during her lifetime; telephone operator, insurance /admissions clerk for 2 different hospitals, office manager, accounts payable and receivable clerk, payroll clerk, administrative assistant, receptionist, and co-owner of her business.
Her most meaningful employment was working for Andy Graves at two funeral homes, concluding with Heritage Oak. She felt that was where God wanted her to minister. Comforting others in their time of sorrow and need was not only a blessing to them, but a blessing to Sherry.
Sherry was a member of Elkins Lake Baptist Church, which she loved. The Ladies Sunday School class was a source of inspiration and she loved each member. They were a group of praying sisters in Christ.
Sherry is preceded in death by Wade Andrews, her husband of 34 years, father Joseph Sherman Charlton, who passed away 3 months before she was born, mother Rosa Bell (Mason) Tantzen and step-father Wilmer E. Tantzen, beloved sister Vivian and husband C.D. Cowart, Jr. , granddaughter Katie Andrews, brother Leonard Harris and wife Frances, brother Wendell Tantzen, sisters-in-law Bobbie Jean Roy and Billie Sue Manuel, brother-in-law G B Andrews and wife Sue.
