Ruby Kathryn
Thomson

Huntsville
Ruby Kathryn Day Thomson was born on March 11, 1930 in Manning, Angelina County, Texas. Kathryn married Ray Thomson on April 11, 1948 after a six week courtship. Ray was an employee of Southwestern Bell Telephone Company until his retirement in 1978. During this time they traveled extensively throughout Texas until settling down in Huntsville, living on their farm in the Phelps community where they raised Beef-master cattle.
In 1968 Kathryn went to work at Sam Houston State University in the Physical Plant Department, working there until her retirement in 1990. Kathryn was raised in a Pentecostal home and had always embraced a strong Pentecostal faith. However, when Ray became a baptist minister, pastoring at The Pine Valley Baptist Church in San Jacinto County, she joined his church to support his ministry.
After Ray's death in 1993, Kathryn became a volunteer at Huntsville Memorial Hospital working there until 1996, that is where she met Edgar Merritt McNabb and four weeks later they were married on the front porch of his beautiful 100 year old home in St Helena Parish, Louisiana. After their marriage, they maintained two homes, one in Louisiana and one in Texas until his death in 2011.
Kathryn and both husbands loved their dogs, Reb and Rusty, and their cattle. They also loved deer hunting and fishing. Kathryn lived a full happy life raising two beautiful daughters and getting to see her three grandsons and granddaughter become wonderful young men and women with families of their own. She loved and enjoyed her special great-grand children and great-great-grandchild with all her heart.
