Obituary

Ross Lassetter Dobbins, Jr. went to be with the Lord peacefully in his home on Saturday, August 2, 2025 at 1:19am, holding the hands of his two granddaughters.

Ross lived a beautiful life for 93 years starting in 1931 on September 29th, where he was born in Elgin, Texas. He spent most of his childhood in Dallas, Texas with his father, mother and younger sister.

From 1951 to 1955, Ross proudly joined and served the United States Air Force, where he had a great career as a Staff Sergeant. In 1953, it was a true love at first sight moment when he laid eyes on Grace Juanita Green. At the end of their second date, Ross asked Nita to be his wife. Being so in love, they were married on October 2, 1953 in San Antonio, Texas. They spent 73 beautiful years together and were blessed with two sons.

He served the Lord and his community by using his God given gift of finance. He served as President of the Concordia Lutheran Church of San Antonio, Texas in 1972. After moving to Dodge, Texas, Ross served as treasurer of First Baptist Church of Dodge for over a decade. He was also an original member of the Dodge Volunteer Fire Department, and also served as treasurer for many years. After joining Northside Baptist Church of Huntsville, Texas, it wasn't long before he used his God given gift and served as treasurer there for many years as well.

Ross spent most of his years enjoying his days taking care of his beautiful property with his son Matt and spending quality time with his family, especially his two granddaughters, Ashley and Macy. You could often find him with his video camera in hand, capturing special moments, and creating lasting memories his family still watch to this day.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ross Lassetter Dobbins, Sr., his mother, Erby Alice Cole Dobbins, and his sister, Karen Ann Turner. He is survived by his loving wife, Grace Juanita Dobbins, his son, who took such wonderful care of him, Matthew Ross Dobbins, and wife Lynette, and their children, Ashley Duke and her husband, Ben. Macy Smith and her husband Jason. His great-grandchildren Matthew Smith, Bryson Duke, Murray Duke, Mason Smith and Mellani Smith. As well as his son, Paul Ross Dobbins, wife Sabrina Dobbins and their children.

"I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." Philippians 4:13
