Robert Emmett Bracewell Sr, age 55, passed away in Jacksonville, FL on September 23rd 2026. Born in Houston, TX, Robert lived a life defined by hard work, loyalty, family, and a genuine love for the outdoors.

Robert was a man who was happiest outside. He had a natural green thumb and a deep appreciation for trees, plants, landscaping, and the beauty of the outdoors. For more than 30 years, he dedicated himself to landscape and irrigation maintenance, taking pride in his work. He was hardworking, mechanically inclined, and the kind of person who could figure out how to fix just about anything

Those who knew Robert knew he was outgoing, strong-willed, and, at times, wonderfully stubborn. He was fiercely loyal to the people he loved and never hesitated to lend a hand. He loved football, NASCAR, 80s rock 'n' roll, riding with the top down, and spending time outside. He also treasured the memories of a trip to Alaska, a trip he enjoyed every second and would never forget.

Robert was a dedicated, hands-on father and PaPaw. His family was one of the greatest sources of meaning in his life. He is survived by his daughters, Robyn (Joshua Smith) and Kaylynn (Michael Peterson); grandchildren, Khiley and Kolten Smith; mother Alice Bracewell, brother, Ray Bracewell; sister, Eva (Pete Linster); and beloved nieces.

Robert was preceded in death by his father, Ray Bracewell, his son, Robert Emmett Bracewell Jr., and his longtime partner, Jolynn.

Robert leaves behind more than memories. He leaves behind the lessons of a hard day's work, the beauty found in a well-tended landscape, and stories that will continue to be told for generations.

He may no longer be here for us to see, hear, or reach for, but the things that made Robert who he was remain, in the trees he loved, the lawns he groomed, the music he enjoyed, the memories he created, and most of all, in the people he shared it with.

This is not goodbye. It is simply "see you later."

Robert will be laid to rest in Texas, returning to his home state. Graveside services, under the direction of Heritage Oak Funeral Home, will be on Saturday, October 3, 2026 at 12:00 PM at Center Hill Cemetery in Oakhurst.
