Raymond Merl McClintock, Jr., Major, USAF (Ret.)

Raymond Merl McClintock, Jr., 84, left us to be with the Lord on March 7, 2025. Ray, as he's known, was born to Raymond Merl McClintock, Sr. and Emily Jane Jump McClintock on August 25, 1940, in Nevada, Ohio.

Ray graduated from Nevada High School in 1958 and went to the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in June, 1962, and went to undergraduate pilot training at Laughlin AFB, Del Rio, Texas, in August, 1962. It was there that he would meet the love of his life, Barbara Jane Griffin, and the two married in May, 1963.

Through his military career, Ray amassed 6,700 hours fly time and completed 495 combat missions, reaching the rank of Major. During his time in the United States Air Force, he was stationed at military bases located in Texas, Nevada, California, Maine, Southeast Asia, Florida, Arizona, Germany, and eventually retired honorably from Offutt Air Force Base in Bellevue, Nebraska, in 1984.

Ray then accepted a position with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice in 1985, retiring after 20 years of service. He continued to volunteer for TDCJ for a number of years thereafter.

Ray was preceded in death by his father, Raymond Merl McClintock, Sr.; his mother, Emily Jane Jump McClintock; his brother, Dennis McClintock; and his love, Barbara Jane Griffin McClintock.

He is survived by his sister, Susan Kalb Yoder; his daughter, Heidi Lee McClintock; his son, Ronald Lee McClintock; his grandchildren, Jonathon McClintock and Maisie Christison; numerous nieces and nephews, and many friends.
