Dean Gardner passed away peacefully on December 18, 2023 at the age of 82.  He fought the good fight and finished the race and kept the faith.

Born May 12,1941 in Eudora, Arkansas, he was the son of Aubrey and Missouri Gardner and the 7th of 11 children.

He served his country in the United States Army from 1964 to 1966, serving a tour in Vietnam in 1965.

56 years ago, Dean and his wife, Janet were married October 20, 1967 in Houston, Texas.  In 1975 they moved to Huntsville, Texas where they built their home and raised their family.

Dean was a good husband, father and Papa and he will be missed greatly but we know he is no longer suffering, and we rest assured that he is in heaven as he accepted Christ as his savior in 1984. He would help anyone that needed it and was always dependable and patient.

He worked as a welder at Brown & Root in Houston, Texas for 17 years and then went to work for TDCJ where he retired after 20 years in 2003.

He was a lifetime member of the John Sims Masonic Lodge No 458 of New Waverly, Texas.

Dean is preceded in death by his parents and 5 siblings.

He is survived by his wife Janet and daughters, Annette Chandonnet, Terri Gardner and Kathy Chandonnet and husband Doug, three grandchildren, Kennedy and husband Eric Gilcrease, Katie Chandonnet and Quinton Chandonnet and one great grandson, Cody Emerton.  He is also survived by a brother, Bobby Gardner and wife Dolores, four sisters, Syble Graves, Jean Smith, Ruby Averrett, and Shirley Gardner and multiple nieces and nephews.
