Obituary

Phillip Lynn Douglas, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully in his home on Tuesday, May 20th, 2025, in Huntsville, Texas. Born on Thursday, January 10th, 1952, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Phillip lived a life full of love, laughter, and dedication to his family and community.


Phillip is survived by his devoted wife of 52 years, Karen Douglas, of Huntsville, TX; his sons, Jason Douglas and Marshall Douglas and his wife Heather; his cherished grandchildren, Zane, Raylen, and Mason Douglas; his brother, Gerald Douglas; his sister, Joyce Daspit; his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Denise and Jerry Shedd; his nephews, Daniel and Joey; and his nieces, Cassie, Carmen, and Stephanie. He was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Barbara E Douglas, and his brother, Bruce Douglas.


Phillip had a distinguished career as an engineer, dedicating 29 years to KTI/FISH in drafting and flowsheets before retiring from TxDOT after 14 years in Project Management. His professional life was marked by a commitment to excellence and innovation.


Outside of work, Phillip was a passionate member of the North Houston Volkswagen Club, Bay Area Volkswagen Club, and Iron Ravens Motorcycle Club. An avid athlete, he excelled in softball, baseball, flag football, and golf, and was known for his natural talent in any sport he pursued.


A Celebration of Phillip's Life will be held on Friday, May 30th, 2025, at 11:00AM at Northside Baptist Church in Huntsville, Texas, officiated by Pastor Reagan M. Cooksey. Family and friends are encouraged to wear Hawaiian shirts or bright colors as we come to remember Phillip's remarkable life and the joy he brought to those around him.

The family would like to send a special thank you to Thera Care Home Health of Livingston, St. Joseph Hospice, Dr. Nabeel A. Kahn and Dr. Elham Abbasi for their compassion and care for Phillip.


Phillip will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him, but his legacy of kindness, humor, and dedication will live on in the hearts of those he touched.
