Obituary

Patsy Juanita Duerer, beloved daughter of Ellis and Mary Walker, was called home to be with the Lord on November 20, 2025. Born on October 18, 1950, in Huntsville, Texas, Patsy attended school in Huntsville, Texas, and cherished lifelong friendships with many of her classmates.

A devoted daughter, sister, mother, aunt, friend, and Nana, Patsy found her greatest joy surrounded by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She leaves behind a legacy filled with laughter, love, and the unforgettable aroma of her legendary chicken and dumplings, the sweet delight of her banana pudding, and the comforting taste of her buttermilk pies.

Patsy's favorite role was that of Nana. She delighted in spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, proudly sharing their talents and accomplishments with everyone she met. Her face would light up with joy as she spoke of them.

Living life to the fullest, Patsy loved dancing the two-step and listening to classic country music. Some of her favorite artists included Johnny Rodriguez, Charley Pride, Freddy Fender, and Dale Watson. She and her friends often traveled across the state to see their favorite performers.

Born with a deep love for animals, Patsy had a special way of communicating with them. Her beloved companion, Coco, was by her side for twelve  cherished years.

Patsy's compassion touched everyone she encountered. Whether sharing a meal, offering a helping hand, or lending a listening ear, she was always there for others.

She valued love, loyalty, and acceptance, and her infectious smile, kind soul, and generous spirit were gifts to all who knew her.

Patsy instilled in her children the importance of hard work and a strong work ethic. She recently retired from the Sheriff's Office, where she served with dedication.

Patsy is preceded in death by her parents, Ellis and Mary Walker; her sister, Peggy Walker; and her twin grandsons, Austin and Dylan Sumner.

She was the beloved sister of Dee Ray Walker (wife Pam) and sister LaWanda Morgan (husband Mike), and beloved mother of Lynn Hodges (husband Mitch), Tanya Sumner (husband Cory), David Holik (wife Savannah), and Jackie Holik (wife Lauren).

Her grandchildren include Aaron Hodges, Cody Hodges, Ashley Walraven, Kaylee Roach, Jenna Langley, Brooklyn Holik, Allison Holik, Kayden Artherholt, Landon Holik, Austin Langley, Hunter Sumner, Holden Holik, and Kelsey Langley.

Her great-grandchildren are Tucker, Lucas, and Piper Hodges; Brooks and Daisy Hodges; and Brynlee Langley. Patsy was loved by many nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.

A celebration of Patsy's life will be held on January 24, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Heritage Oak Funeral Home. A private interment will follow at Greer Cemetery in Madisonville.
