Norma Elaine Bishop was born December 16,1929 and went home to glory on Friday, January 5, 2024.

Norma was known to her family as Lanie. To us she was Aunt Lanie. Lanie was born in Kosse, TX at home, she was delivered by a mid-wife.

She was raised in Houston, TX and graduated from Reagan High School in 1947. She then attended Sam Houston State for two years then transferred to the University of Texas where she attained her Bachelor of Arts degree with honors.

Lanie was supervisor of the Memorial Herman Hospital Blood Bank. She was selected by the Atomic Bomb Casualty Commission to go to Hiroshima, Japan and study the after effects of the bomb by studying the blood of those that had been exposed to radiation.

After her tenure in Japan she traveled the world and thoroughly enjoyed her travels. She loved all people and was extremely generous and kind. She donated to numerous charitable organizations. Upon her return to Texas she worked as a lab technician for a number of years until she retired to take care of her father, then her mother, then her sister.

She is beloved by her family and she will be greatly missed by us all. She was a true treasure.

Norma was preceded in death by her parents, Ollie and Reba Bishop and her sister Joyce Keller.

She is survived by her niece Sharon Caylor and husband Randy of Lovelady, TX, nephew Delmon Keller and wife Glenda of Hemphill, TX; in addition great nieces and nephews as follows; Kellie Marberry, Stephen Keller, Jaime Standley and her sons, John and Matthew, Kimberly Cochran, Chris Caylor and Will Caylor.
