Nancy Ann Winkler, born in Giddings, Texas on September 6, 1949, entered eternal rest on May 24, 2026.

Nancy was a devoted wife, loving mom, proud Mimi, and cherished friend to many. For 56 years, she faithfully stood beside the love of her life; her husband Harvey, building a life centered on faith, family, hard work, and love. Anyone who knew Nancy knew her gentle spirit, soft-spoken nature, caring heart, and the kindness she freely shared with others.

Nancy found great joy in caring for those around her. She loved cooking and made sure her family was always cared for with home-cooked meals, often preparing three meals a day after retiring from Region 6 Education Service Center so she could spend more time at home with Harvey. She also loved traveling with Harvey on hunting trips and especially enjoyed traveling to the ranch in West Texas, where they created many treasured memories together.

Throughout the years, Nancy and Harvey opened their home and hearts to countless young people involved in rodeo and showing horses. Many were welcomed like family and experienced Nancy's warmth, encouragement, and endless hospitality.

Nancy was a faithful member of St. Thomas Catholic Church, where she especially enjoyed attending church bazaars and bingo with friends and family. She was also a lifetime member of the Walker County Fair Association and dedicated countless hours serving on various committees over the years. The committee closest to her heart was the chicken committee, where she loved supporting the kids who showed their chickens and helping prepare for fair events each year. Nancy was also instrumental in helping put together the Walker County Fair Association cookbook, preserving recipes and memories that will continue to bless families for generations.

Nancy leaves behind a legacy of love, service, and devotion. She is survived by her beloved husband, Harvey Winkler; daughter, Tammy Douget and husband Joel; son, Shane Winkler and wife Crystal; treasured granddaughters, Cheyenne Douget, Charlotte Winkler, Anna Winkler, and Olivia Winkler; her brother and sisters; brothers-in- law and sisters-in-law; and numerous nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.

Nancy's life was a beautiful example of quiet strength, unwavering love, and selfless dedication to family and community. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the blessing of knowing her.

Nancy will lie in state at Heritage Oak Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 27th from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Visitation will be held Thursday, May 28th at 2:00 p.m., followed by the funeral service at 3:00 p.m. at Heritage Oak Funeral Home. Burial will immediately follow at Blackjack Cemetery.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Creekside Memory Care Unit and Benchmark Hospice for the compassion and care shown to Nancy and her family.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made in memory of Nancy to Creekside Memory Care Unit or Benchmark Hospice.
