Michael “Mike” Allen Murphy, Sr. went home to be with the Lord as the new day began Sunday, August 30th, 2026. He was born in Houston, Texas on December 9, 1939, to parents Clifford Columbus Murphy and Dorothy Sandoz Murphy.

Mike began his education at St. Anne Catholic School and graduated from St. Thomas High School. After graduation he attended The University of Texas in Austin. His chosen profession was a Pipe Designer and Project Coordinator.

In 1977 he married the love of his life, Bonnie. They spent 4 months shy of 50 years together, building a beautiful life and raising 7 children.

Mike was a man of few words and gave all of himself every day. He was a devoted Catholic, a volunteer within his church, a loyal friend, loving husband and father.

One of Mike’s passions was his love for Model A(s). He brought history to life from the ground up. His craftsmanship and attention to detail in every aspect of his life was impeccable. Through his Model A(s), he built lasting relationships with others whom shared his passion.

Being a husband, father and grandfather made him very active in his family. He did not miss births, graduations, weddings or any family gatherings, no matter how loud it was. He gave wisdom when sought, told stories of the past, gave hugs when needed. His infamous “pointer finger wave” told everyone how much he loved them.

He was the type of man who would rather “wear out than rust out”. He worked as such everyday seizing every minute of every day. When his day was complete and all was well, Mike ended each day on the porch watching the sun set on God’s creations while enjoying his Lucky Strikes.

As his life on earth was coming to an end, his family and friends shared with him what he meant in each of their lives. Mike watched the final sunset of his life over beautiful oak trees just like he did at his farm. A life of peace, a life of purpose and a life he didn’t need a vacation from.

Mike was blessed and is missed beyond measure by his enormous family. He leaves a legacy through his wife, Bonnie; 7 children: Brigitte Peres, Donna (Randy) Flather, Dana Grogan, Michael Murphy Jr., Bo Burke, Kelly (Tom) Mueller, Steven (Veronica) Burke; 17 Grandchildren: Randi (Ross), John, Travis, Rachel, Faith (Dustin), Tara, Amanda, Annie,Andrew, Sam, Caroline, Christopher, Ian, Kevin, Cierra, Adeline, Walker; 2 Great Grandchildren: Adrian, Ryan; as well as many nieces and nephews. Survived by brother-in-law Val Coerver and sister-in-law Claudette Murphy.

Michael Murphy Sr. was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Merle Truesdell, Kathryn Whitefield, and Elizabeth Coerver, brothers Pat and Clifford Murphy, son-in-law Butch Grogan, grand daughter-in-law Nadia Mueller.

Reunited, completely healed and completely restored.

Services for Mike will be held on Saturday, September 12, 2026 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Bremond, Texas. Rosary will begin at 10:30am with a Memorial Service at 11:00am. A reception and Celebration of Life will immediately follow the service.
