Margaret Elizabeth Adams (Chelette) was born March 14, 1944, in Orange, Texas and was the 7th of eight children born to James and Blanche Chelette. In the 1970s her young family moved to Walker County, Texas where they established residence near the Owen & Adams family's original farm near the East Sandy, community. The Owen & Adams family are one of the founding families of the Historic East Sandy Community and Cemetery.

Margaret and Alton Adams, raised two of their children in the East Sandy community. Margaret was active in the Order of Eastern Star, loved serving in hospitality ministries with her church, and loved serving her excellent cooking to the community. Food was her love language. In the 1970s at the corner of 1-75 and FM 1374 was the Adams Café where Margaret's recipes filled the pulp wood haulers traversing through New Waverly on their way to the pulp mills.

After the death of her husband in 2001, Margaret moved to Bossier City, Louisiana to care for her aging sisters. Only to return to Walker County towards the end of her life, moving her church membership back to Bethel Baptist Church at East Sandy Cemetery where she will be interred on Feb 17, 2024.

Margaret passed away peacefully on Feb 8, 2024, she is survived by her brother Robert (Bobby) Chelette and her two sons James Adams and Donald Carruthers, and grandson Morgan Alton Carruthers. She is preceded in death by 6 other siblings; AJ, Mildred, Dorothy, OJ, JC, and Viola.

A graveside memorial service will be held at East Sandy Cemetery on Saturday Feb. 17, 2024, at 10:45 AM, all are welcome to join family and friends to celebrate the life and legacy of Margaret Adams.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests a donation to Bethel Baptist Church. They accept checks made to Bethel Baptist and mailed to the pastor at 23 Pine Avenue Huntsville, TX 77340.
