Major Gene Butler was born in Austin, Texas on September 14, 1938 to Major K and Mattie Lee Butler. He went to be with the Lord on November 13, 2023 surrounded by his family at his home in Huntsville, Texas.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years Carolyn Butler, daughter Hope Martin & husband John. Grandchildren Hadley and Hailey Martin all of Huntsville, Texas; son, Dusten Butler of Austin, Texas; sister, Thelma Fisher of Austin, Texas and numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by his parents Major K and Mattie Lee Butler; son, Monty Butler; sisters, Johnnie Hill, Margret Ritchey and brother Leo Butler.
