Huntsville
Leah Ann Embry went Home to be with her Heavenly Father on January 17, 2023. Leah Ann was born on August 25, 1949, in Weatherford, Texas to James and Jewel Embry. She was the youngest of three children and the only girl. Leah Ann graduated from Weatherford High School in 1967. She attended the Career Academy in Houston from 1967-1968, where she acquired her Clinical Nurse certification. Leah Ann also continued her education at Weatherford and Tarrant County Junior Colleges. After a few years of nursing Leah Ann accepted a position with Blue Cross Blue Shield in Dallas and worked there until her retirement in 2012; moving up the career ladder on many occasions and was the recipient of numerous achievement awards. In 2013, Leah Ann moved to Huntsville to be near her family and a few years later, with declining health, moved to the Creekside Retirement Community until her death. Leah Ann loved Creekside and referred to it as her last home before her Heavenly Home. She made many friends at Creekside and cherished each one.
Leah Ann was a devoted Christian. She loved to share stories of her faith and her prayers were always comforting and gracefully said. Leah Ann enjoyed reading, watching sports on tv, playing games, and was a lifelong Dallas Cowboy fan. She fiercely loved her family; especially her great-nephew (Dickson) and great-niece (Alexys) who called her "Auntie Ann."
Leah Ann was preceded in death by her parents James and Jewel Embry, and her brother Royce Embry. She is survived by her brother Rodney Embry (wife Joyce), nieces JoLynne Embry Wharton (husband Trey), Tracy Embry Hall (husband Phil), Lisa Embry Martin, nephew Stephen Embry (wife Danielle), her treasured great-nephew and great-niece, Dickson and Alexys Wharton, and other family and friends.
A celebration of Leah Ann's life will be held at 2:00 on Friday, January 27, 2023, at Creekside Retirement Community in Huntsville, Texas. The family wishes to thank the community of Creekside for their love, care, and friendship.
