Laura Lee
Langston
Aug 22, 1945 — Aug 25, 2025
Huntsville
Laura Lee McGhee Langston was born August 22, 1945 in Flushing, New York to James E. and Edith M. McGhee. She passed away August 25, 2025 in Trinity, Texas.
Laura lived her younger years in New Jersey and Pennsylvania before moving to Texas in 1959. She graduated from Spring Branch High School in 1963. As a young girl she always wanted to be a missionary and had plans to join the Peace Corp. Those plans eventually changed and in 1964 she earned her beauty license from Rice Academy of Beauty Culture.
She married George Horton in August 1964 and together they had two children, Laura and George. She was baptized in the Baptist church on April 24, 1977.
She worked for Crosby ISD for 25 years serving in the kitchen. In 1993 she earned an Associate of Applied Science in the field of Dietetics from San Jacinto College. In 1997 she was named Texas Dietetic Technician of the Year. She also worked at San Jacinto County College as well as Crosby ISD until her retirement in 2002. In 2004 she moved to Huntsville, and soon began working at the Trophy Case eventually retiring again from there.
Laura was an amazing artist who loved to paint and draw. Her other hobbies were cooking, fishing (and eating fish), sewing, volunteering at the church and reading her bible which was always on her table next to her chair.
She loved her grandchildren dearly and was so excited when she became a great grandmother. She always had a big smile, infectious laugh and you couldn't get away from her without a hug. Her one goal was to always share Jesus with anyone she could. Even in her short time in the nursing home, she touched so many lives with her smile and love for people.
She was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her brother James E. McGhee and his wife Karen. She also leaves behind to cherish her memory her children Laura Nesselrode and her husband David and George M. Horton and his wife Kerri Ann; her grandchildren Elizabeth Braun and her husband David, Ross Nesselrode and his wife Lauren and Hailey Horton. She is also survived by her great grandchildren Harper Braun, Avery Braun and Lucas Braun along with her nieces and nephews Trisha McGhee, Scott McGhee, Todd McGhee and Liam McGhee.
