Larry Thomas Decker, age 67, of Madisonville, TX, passed away on May 27, 2025. He was born on February 17, 1958 in Cincinnati, Ohio, to John and Shirley Decker, who have both preceded him in death.

Larry moved to Madisonville, TX upon his Honorable Discharge from the United States Army in 1994. Larry served in the Army for 10 years, spending 4 years in foreign countries, being stationed in Korea and Germany. Once Larry departed from Fort Hood, he embarked on his new career as a Correctional Officer for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. Larry retired from TDCJ as a Sergeant from the Ferguson Unit. Larry made many lifelong friends and met his beloved wife, Saree Garrett Decker, who proceeded him in death in October of 2022.

Larry involved himself with the American Legion Post 84 in Madisonville, TX. Larry was proud to be a veteran and spent most of his free time serving at Post 84. Larry also loved spending quality time with his family and friends.

Survivors include his children, Patricia and Stacy Stewart, and Jennifer Seckel along with his grandchildren, Brittany and Hollis Anderson, Kendall Kilcrease, Maddie Myers, and Macie Seckel. He is also survived by his brother, Vaughn Decker.

Funeral Services for Larry will be held at Heritage Oak Funeral Home, located at 1080 I-45 South, Huntsville, TX  77340. Services will take place on Wednesday, June 4, 2025 with a visitation beginning at 10:00am and Services at 11:00am. Larry wished for his final resting place to be at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, located at 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, TX 75211. The Burial will take place Thursday, June 5, 2025 at 11:00am.
