Obituary

Kenneth Everett Westbay, Jr., aged 76, peacefully passed away in Huntsville, Texas, Tuesday afternoon, April 7, 2026, with his loving wife, Theresa Irene Westbay, by his side. He was born February 2, 1950, in Wapakoneta, Ohio, son of the late Kenneth Everett Westbay Sr. and Alma Marie Reineke Westbay.

Ken is survived and missed by his loving wife Theresa of 53 years; and his sons, Andy (wife Angela), Sam, Mark (wife Jenny), Steve (wife Jennifer), and John (wife Monique). Forever cherished by his 13 grandchildren: Zach, Mia, James, Alex, Alicia, Sophie, Ashley, Luke, Nathan, Reaghan, Evan, Harper, and Everly.

Ken is preceded in death by his parents, Ken and Alma, his sister Nancy Lambert and her husband Bill, sister Virginia Epperson and her husband Ed, and his brothers-in-law Larry Timmerman and Jerry Wertz. Ken is survived by his sisters Sally Timmerman and Karen Wertz, brother Rick and wife Louise, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Ken graduated from Wapakoneta High School in 1968 and enlisted in the U.S. Army (1968- 1971), deploying twice to Vietnam in 1969 and 1970. For his service he received a Purple Heart and the Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross medal with palm.

After returning to Ohio, he married the love of his life, Theresa, on October 27, 1972. In March 1980, Ken moved his family to Texas where he worked for South Houston Lumber and Truss. Ken continued his career in the lumber industry while working at Timber Tech in Tomball, Texas, Walker and Byrd in Huntsville, Texas, and finally at Empire Truss in Huntsville, Texas. Ken officially retired in January 2015 and continued his hobbies of drawing house plans and building cabinets while spending time with his wife, family, and grandkids.
