Joseph "Joe" Lee Hardy
July 9, 1937 - January 21, 2024
Joseph "Joe" Lee Hardy, age 86, passed away on January 21, 2024. He was born on July 9, 1937, and is preceded in death by his parents, Wilborn and Neva Hardy; and also W. L. Hardy and Agnes, Milton and Imogene Mabry, Bobby Harris, Karl Hardy, Ollie Hardy and Rory Grieve. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Sue Mabry Hardy, who he married on August 11, 1962.
Joe is lovingly remembered by his daughters Terri Jo Wells and husband David, and Jerri Lee Harris and husband Morris. He is also survived by his grandchildren Ashley Ann Tupper and Nick, Ricky Harris and Sabrina, Leah "Nickie" Grieve Mason and Nick, as well as great-granddaughters Ryleigh Grieve, Tristda Harris, Addison Mason, and great-grandchildren by marriage Seth and Bryce Barrow, Trinitty Wallace, Mackenzie, and Anistyn Mason.
He leaves behind his brothers Bob Hardy, Paul Hardy and Verla; sister-in-law, Glenda Sue Hardy and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends.
Joe dedicated 41 years of his life to the Texas Department of Public Safety, serving as a dispatcher in Houston, Kerrville, and Bryan. He was promoted to Supervisor of Dispatch and was stationed in Del Rio and Texas City. In his later years, he transitioned to become a vehicle inspector, stationed in Conroe for the last years before his well-deserved retirement.
Joe was a member of John Sims Lodge #458 A.F. & A.M. Serving many years as the lodge Secretary. He was District Deputy Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of Texas in 1998. Joe was an endowed member of John Sims Lodge #458 A.F. & A.M. as well as Tranquility Lodge #2000 A.F. &A.M.
The pallbearers for Joseph's service will be Bobby Keller, David Hardy, Darrell Hardy, Eldon Altman, Ryan Stepp, and Steven Rich. Honorary pallbearers include Joe Bob Hardy, Bill Keller, and Wayne Volkmer. Heavenly pallbearers Wilborn Hardy, Karl Hardy, Mitt Mabry, W. L. Hardy, Claude Lindley, Rory Grieve and Herman and Bobby Harris.
May Joe rest in peace, and may his memory be a source of comfort and strength to his family and friends during this difficult time.
