Joseph Milton Schultea, Jr.
February 17, 1957 – March 27, 2026

Joseph Milton Schultea, Jr., known as Joey to his many friends and family, was born in Houston, Texas on February 17, 1957, to his parents Joseph Milton Schultea, Sr., and Peggy Schultea. Joey spent his youth years growing up in Houston as the oldest of 3 siblings, and always made sure to lead them in the right direction in life. In November 1994, Joey married his loving wife, Stacey E. Austin of Cypress, Texas. Throughout their 31 years together, they raised two beautiful children and many fur babies. In 2008, they moved their sprawling horse ranch from Cypress up to Huntsville where they would live the remainder of their many years together.

Joey's best memories in life were spending his time with family and friends, enjoying activities such as hunting, fishing, or simply relaxing on the ranch surrounded by his animals. Many knew him as a family man, but there are many who know him for his life of service to community and country. In 1977, Joey joined the Harris County Sheriff's Office as a deputy and would remain there until 1980. In 1980, he began his 4 years of service to his country, serving in the U.S. Navy from 1980 to 1984. He returned to the Harris County Sheriff's Office in 1985 as a K-9 Officer, a position he remained in until his retirement in 2002. After his 2002 retirement, he began his administrative law enforcement career as Police Chief at Patton Village. The remainder of his career was filled with roles of leadership where he inspired many young officers to be leaders themselves. After a 48-year career as a leader to those who worked alongside him, Joey finally retired with his final role as Reserve Captain with Precinct 1 Montgomery County Constables Office in February 2025.

On Friday, March 27, 2026, Joey was called home to heaven and reunited with his parents Joe, Sr., and Peggy Schultea, along with many others who have gone before him. He leaves behind his wife of 31 years, Stacey E. Schultea, his two children, son Cody Everett (wife Alison) of Brenham, daughter Shelby Lynn of Conroe, and granddaughter Ashlin Malinowski. He is also survived by his brother Jim (wife Kay Kay) of Spring, his sister Cynthia (husband James) of Manvel, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who loved him.

Joey lived a life filled with love for his family and service. He leaves behind a lasting legacy of leadership that will be remembered and carried on by those who knew him for many years to come.
