John Michael Turner was born in Livingston, Texas on November 2, 1938 and traveled to his home in heaven on November 15, 2023.

Michael is preceded in death by his parents Vernon Edward and Nanny Elizabeth Turner.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Ivy Grace, son Michael Rodney and wife Monica, daughter Rhonda D'Layne Sherling and husband Tony, all of Huntsville, Texas; grandsons Don Michael Lunsford and wife Madison, Rodney Justin Turner and fiancé Sara, John Forrest and wife Katie; great-grandchildren Kaydence, Koaltin, and Dakota Lunsford; Bayleigh, Averie and Elijah Hollingsworth, John Wyatt Turner; His loving hunting and "go" companion dog, "Ivy D'Layne Turner"; Brothers Norman and wife Myrtle, Alton and wife Teresa, Calvin and wife Sue, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Michael enjoyed and was happiest when he was helping friends with projects or anyone who needed help. He was a man of many talents and loved using them. He loved to fish, hunt and be with his family.

John Michael loved his church and missed going after his health kept him away. He served as Deacon of Finance, was the bus driver for Prime-Timers trips, and was the fish frying cook at Prime-Timers.

He retired as Assistant Director of E & R, Texas Department of Criminal Justice. He was the leader of obtaining the credit card identification use, and doing away with the script use in the commissaries.

Visitation will be held Monday, November 20, at 10:00AM at Huntsville Church of Christ with Funeral Services starting at 11:00AM and interment at Brooke Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers are Don Michael Lunsford, Rodney Justin Turner, John Forrest Turner, Joe Burt Gulley III, Taylor Groze, and John Groze.

Honorary pallbearers are Riley Tilley, Bob Payne, Raymond Wallace, Dale Story, Jim Willett, John Bufalow, and Nick Godkin.
