John (Johnny) Amick, Jr. 75 of Huntsville, Texas was called home to be with our Lord and Savior on April 22, 2026 after fighting a long battle with multiple sclerosis. Born on October 25, 1950 to John Amick Sr. and Ora (Mears) Amick. He was born and raised in Huntsville and graduated from Huntsville High School in the class of 1969. Johnny attended and graduated from Sam Houston State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Education and Technology in 1979. From 1974-1983 he was a real estate broker and landlord working with his father. Johnny worked for the National Park Service at Big Bend 1983-1989. In 1987 he married Lynnette (Kirkley) Amick on the Window Loop Trail at Big Bend. The couple moved back to Huntsville to take care of Johnny's parents in 1989. He went into business and started Amick's "Better Built Portable Buildings". From 1999 to 2026 he was a landlord. Johnny has one daughter, Kelli JoBeth Amick - 33, of Houston, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his father, John Amick, Sr., mother, Ora Amick, and his brothers Jerry Richard and Jack and sister Jill.

He is survived by his wife, Lynnette and daughter, Kelli. Johnny loved his family very much and was "The Best Dad in the World!" to his daughter. He was so involved with her bicycle trips six times in the MS150 from Houston to Austin. He would get up very early on Saturday mornings to take Kelli to Huntsville Lakers Swim Team meets. Johnny helped raise money for the MS150 and the swim team and city pool. Johnny will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and neighbors.

Services will be under the direction of Heritage Oak Funeral Home in Huntsville, Texas and will be led by Dr. Jason Bay at First Baptist Church, 1229 Avenue J, Huntsville, Texas. Visitation will be held Sunday, May 3rd at 2:00pm with the service following at 3:00pm.

The Amick family wishes to thank St. Joseph Hospice and all their wonderful personnel; nurses and caregivers for their care of Johnny. They were a tremendous help in making him feel comfortable and meeting his health needs. Special thanks to our dear friend and caregiver Tina Oliphant Spivey. She was a blessing to Johnny.
