Obituary

Joe was born January 7, 1946 to Ester Mae Lehman and Rueben Lloyd Lehman in Leona, Texas. On March 11, 2023, "Pop" went to be with the Lord.

During Joe's early childhood, the family decided to move to Huntsville. Joe enrolled in Huntsville Schools where he stayed until he graduated a Huntsville Hornet Class of 1964. After high school, Joe moved to Houston, Texas, where he would find his soulmate Jackie. The two began dating and shortly thereafter, decided to moved to Anaheim, California and begin a life of entrepreneurship.

On October 21, 1972, Joe and Jackie went to San Antonio, Texas and united in marriage. They went back to California and continued working for the next several years. After Joe's two boys were born, the entire family moved back to Huntsville, the place they called home for the rest of their lives. Once back in Huntsville, Joe continued his knack for being a business owner and got into the Laundromat business. Many may remember him as the owner of Joe's Washateria. During his time of owning the family businesses, Joe went to work everyday and met so many people along the way. Joe took pride in serving the community in a way that he felt was right and the best. After owning the family business for many years, Joe decided it was time for him to sell the businesses. After selling the family businesses, Joe went to work for TDCJ. For several more years, Joe worked in the laundry department of TDCJ and finally decided around 2017 to fully retire.

One of Joe's biggest joys in life were his two boys, Justin and Jared. Joe spent all his free time chasing them around the ballparks, fields, or stadiums. Free time at home was spent in the backyard with the boys and him teaching them how to play better. Though the two boys were typically split in separate directions, Joe and Jackie rarely missed an activity.

In 2003, Joe was introduced to what was probably his biggest joy...his first Grandchild. Over the next years Joe's boys would have families of their own and Joe's time was spent with the grandchildren. He loved being a part of their lives and helping take care of them as much as possible.

Pop left this earth surrounded by his boys and his grandchildren.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Ester and Rueben Lehman, his wife, Jackie Lehman, his siblings, Eloise Caskey and Travis Lehman. Brother-in-law Clyde Caskey and Sister-in-law Mae Lehman.

Joe is survived by his two boys Justin (Lori) and Jared (Jennifer) Lehman, grandchildren Kylee, Kloee, Jace, Jaxx, Rylie, Olivia, Carson. Siblings, Milton Lehman, RL Lehman, Wilma Gaylor (Don Gaylor).
