James Leo Novark, affectionately known as "Jimmie," passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 27, 2024, in Conroe, Texas, at the age of 84.

Born on February 8, 1940, in Willis, Texas, Jimmie was the beloved son of Lawrence and Floria Mae Novark. He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, Doris "Dot" Metzler Novark, brother Lawrence Novark Jr, and sister n law Clara Novark.

Jimmie was a man who loved deeply and was deeply loved. He cherished his first wife, Dot, for 18 years before her passing. Later, he was blessed to find love again with his second wife, Libby, with whom he shared 37 wonderful years of marriage. His only child, Darrell, was the light of his life, and together they weathered many storms. They were as close as any father and son could be. Jimmie was a devoted dad and papa that passed on his love for hunting to his son and grandchildren. His grandchildren, Katie and Chad, were his pride and joy, and he attended as many of their sporting events and pig shows as he could.

A hardworking man, Jimmie spent countless hours tending to his home place—baling hay, feeding cows, mowing pastures, and mending fences. He faced numerous health challenges over the years but met each one with strength, faith, and resilience.

Jimmie is survived by his loving wife, Libby; his son, Darrell, and wife, Stephanie; his cherished grandchildren, Katie and Chad; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. The family extends their heartfelt thanks to all the doctors and caregivers who supported Jimmie over the years, especially those at Seasons Assisted Living and Memory Care and Elara Hospice during his final days.

Flowers are welcome but if you wish you may make memorial donations to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or MD Anderson Cancer Center in Jimmie's memory.

A Funeral Service to honor and celebrate Jimmie's life will be held at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in New Waverly, Texas, on Wednesday, July 31, 2024, at 11:00 am. Visitation will take place at Heritage Oak Funeral Home in Huntsville, Texas, on Tuesday, July 30, 2024, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm, followed by a Rosary at 7:00 pm.

James Leo Novark will be dearly missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.
