Jim was born on December 16, 1940 and passed away on September 6, 2025 in Trinity, Texas.  Jim is preceded in death by his wife Barbara Wallin Richards, parents Paul and Velma Richards, sister Nelda (Richards) Shipper and brothers Douglas Richards and Jerry Richards.

He is survived by his wife Frances (Crofford) Richards, brother Jon Paul Richards (Grit) and Sister in Law Cindy Richards, sons Randy Richards (Darla), Jimmy Crofford (Paula), and Jason Crofford (Shelly), daughters Teresa Currie and Sherry (Richards) Fabre (Blaine).  Grandchildren Ashley (Richards) Gilbert, Casey Richards (Karen), Breanna (Fabre) Roberson (Craig), Brian Forrest, Garrett Fabre (Riley), John and Samantha  Esman, Justin Crofford (Ashley), Heath Crofford (Cristin), Cody Currie (Amber) and Colton Currie.   Great Grandchildren Kylie Gilbert, Hayden and Camden Crofford, Cannon, Kyler, Kole and Cooper Currie and soon to be Jim Paul Roberson (JP) and Ketch Currie.  Numerous nieces and nephews. Also, special friends James and Lois Lynch.

Jim was a great husband, father and friend and will be dearly missed by all.  Jim started his career in the banking business and ended his career by working for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice in the Laundry and Purchasing department.

Jim loved his family and his grandchildren, they referred to him as Pops, Pop Pop or Papa Jim.  He had many stories to share with all and loved his Dallas Cowboys and Texas Longhorns.  Jim spent his last years living in the hill country enjoying his trips to estate sales and loving life.  In the past few years he was diagnosed with Alzheimer's and it eventually taking the toll of his life.
