Janith Waller, 91, passed away on August 13, 2023, in Fort Worth, Texas. Jan was born on January 2, 1932, in Chicago, Illinois, to Loren and Helen Tavenner. Jan graduated from Burlingame High School in San Mateo, California, and later earned Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Speech Pathology from Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas. She started her career as a Speech Pathologist and worked for Huntsville ISD for many years.

After meeting in San Francisco, Janith Adrian Tavenner and Morris Inman Waller were married in 1955 in Burlingame, California. The couple had two children, Karen Van Eaton, of Fort Worth, and Cheryl Hersh of Houston. Jan and Morris lived in Huntsville for over 60 years and were devoted members of First United Methodist Church in Huntsville, centering their lives around faith, service, and family. In addition to the church, Jan volunteered for years as a founder of Huntsville Community Daycare Center, auditory test administrator for newborn babies at Huntsville Memorial Hospital as well as serving in the Auxiliary, Treasurer of United Methodist Women, Directory Coordinator at Elkins Lake, Treasurer of Good Shepherd Mission, and Huntsville show organizer for the International Camellia Society.

Jan actively supported Morris in his career in banking, oil and gas, and the City of Huntsville. She enjoyed offering hospitality to close family and the extensive Waller clan, leaving behind precious memories.

Jan is survived by daughter Karen Van Eaton and husband David of Fort Worth, daughter Cheryl Hersh of Houston, brother Bob Tavenner and wife Jayne of Huntsville, sister Gail Stone of Des Moines, Iowa, grandson Grant Van Eaton of Washington, DC, grandson Ross Van Eaton, wife Kristin and great-grandson Owen of Kansas City, Missouri, and granddaughter Christine Hersh of Denver, Colorado.

Jan is preceded in death by husband Morris Waller, father Loren Tavenner, mother Helen Cole Tavenner, and sister Marian Page.

A private graveside service will be held at Oakwood Cemetery in Huntsville. Memorial donations can be made in Jan's name to First United Methodist Church, Attn: Building Fund, 1016 Sam Houston Avenue, Huntsville, Texas 77320.
