Jan Dean Wilson, 80, passed away on April 24, 2025, in Huntsville, Texas. Born on August 10, 1944, in Goessel, Kansas, Jan led a life defined by service, creativity, and a spirited sense of humor. In 1963, Jan enlisted in the United States Air Force and over the next 20 years, he served with distinction as a Material Facilities Supervisor. His military career included deployments in Vietnam and assignments in Japan and Germany, as well as stateside postings in Texas, California, Kansas, North Dakota, and Minnesota. He retired at the rank of Technical Sergeant after two decades of honorable service.

After his military retirement Jan worked as a property tax appraiser. His meticulous nature and dedication were evident throughout this second chapter of his professional life. Jan's love for music began early. He played in a band led by his father and studied music in college and this passion remained constant throughout his life. He also enjoyed woodworking, crafting intricate pieces with his scroll saw that showcased both artistry and patience. Jan was a natural jokester, and he brought joy and laughter to those around him through teasing banter and well-timed quips.

Jan is lovingly remembered by his wife of 27 years; Martha Wright Wilson; children: Joseph Glenn Wilson and wife Rebecca; Jason David Wilson and wife Nicole; Brother: Hal Wilson and wife Julie Wilson; Sister: Wendy Brotton and husband Kim; and grandchild Liam Wilson. He was preceded in death by his mother Goldie McMurray; father Dean Wilson; stepfather Glenn McMurray; stepmother Dorothy Wilson; brothers Kim Wilson and Don McMurray; and grandson Austin Ledean Wilson.

A reception in Jan's memory will be held on May 7, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Heritage Oak Funeral Home, 1080 Interstate 45 South, Huntsville, Texas. A graveside service will follow on May 17, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Canton Township Cemetery, 1541 27th Avenue. Family and friends are invited to gather afterward at Canton Community Church in Canton, Kansas. May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him.

In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
