Herbert Dean Duke was born to Jim and Vera Barrett Duke on August 1, 1938. Herbert went to his heavenly home on October 22, 2023, with many family members around him.

Herbert had been in church, as his health would let him, at First Assembly of God in Huntsville.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Vera Duke; brother Jack Smith and wife Helen, sister Bertha Laskie and husband Bob, brother Bennie and wife LaVerne, sister-in-law Robbie Dean Duke, brother Ed Duke, and great-grandson Daniel. Also preceded in death by one half brother Jimmy and five half sisters, Oda Belle, Dorothy, Juanita, Ila & Lila.

Herbert served in the Air Force from June 1957-June 1963. He was a truck driver for sixty years (10 million miles) until he retired.

He is survived by brothers Sammy, Don & wife Linda, Mike and wife Robin and sisters Patsy Countryman & husband Frank and Peggy Reynolds and husband Melvin "Randy". His son Herbert Dean Duke, Jr. & wife Lisa, and daughter Miriam Self. Grandchildren James, William, Michael, Ashley, Alex, Amanda & husband James, Doyle, Matthew and Cassie. Great-grandchildren Michael, Jr., Cyrus, Nathan, Kenny, Tyler, Hannah, Joanna, Travis, Lily, Bryson, Bailey, Shawn, and Brandon. Great-great-grandchildren are Kansen, Keegan, Miles, and numerous nieces, nephews, and beloved friends.
