Harvey Gene
Rotramel
Oct 9, 1939 — Nov 25, 2022
El Paso
Gene Rotramel (first name Harvey) died on Friday, November 25, 2022, in El Paso, Texas. Gene suffered from Alzheimer's disease for many years and died due to complications from COVID. Born to Joseph Roscoe and Eleanor LaRue Rotramel on October 9, 1939, in Centralia, Illinois, Gene was 83 years old when he died. While attending Howard Payne University in the late 1950s, Gene met Dorothy Lillian Henry and they were married in 1958. In 1959, they welcomed their first son, Harvey Gene, Jr. Two years later, their second son, Mark, was born. That completed their family until Harvey married Susan and Mark married Teresa. The family of four had grown to six, which became 25 with the addition of seven grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. He loved his family and invested himself in them throughout his life.
Responding to God's calling on his life, Gene sold his computer business in the late 1960s and moved his family to Brownwood, Texas where he completed his degree at Howard Payne University. For over 30 years he pastored churches in various parts of Texas, including Cottonwood, Ballinger, Odessa, Edinburg, and Hawthorne. "Brother Gene," as most referred to him, and "Ms. Dorothy" left an enduring mark on the lives of many people. Dorothy preceded him in death in 2018. Retiring from full-time ministry in 1999, Gene and Dorothy moved to Huntsville, TX where they lived until Dorothy's death in 2018. Gene moved to El Paso to his new home at The Legacy at Cimarron where he lived until his death. The family wishes to express our deepest appreciation to Jacob Boggs and the entire staff at Legacy. The care given to Dad throughout the four years of his time was exceptional.
