Harriette Clara
Petrowski
May 13, 1961 — Aug 10, 2024
Huntsville
Harriette Clara Petrowski passed away on August 10, 2024, at the age of 63, after bravely fighting lung, spine, and brain cancer for nearly seven years. Through all of the pain she endured, she never complained and always kept her faith.
Born to William and Eurnestine Travis on May 13, 1961, she was a loving, caring, and beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend to all who knew her.
Harriette graduated from Dickinson High School before moving to Huntsville and attending Sam Houston State University. After taking time to raise her children, she enjoyed a long career at TDCJ before retiring to deliver for Meals on Wheels.
Her favorite pastime was decorating her front yard for the holidays and spreading joy to those in the neighborhood. She particularly loved Halloween, where she would distribute goody bags full of candy to hundreds of trick-or-treaters from the community.
She always enjoyed playing a role in her children's activities as they grew up, including volunteering with Girl Scout troops and spending time at the Huntsville Youth Baseball fields assisting in the concession stand and serving as a team mother.
Harriette was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Robert. She is survived and her memory will be kept alive by her husband, Ron; her children, Billie Travis (Ronald), Tina Martinez (Roger), and Roman Petrowski (Andrea); her grandchildren, Kaylee Brooks, Kenneth Martinez, Genesis Travis, Kaleb Martinez, and Ronald Haynes Jr.; her sisters Lovette Hayes (Jim), Charlette Travis (Michelle Touchstone), and Kat Smith (Bob; deceased); and her sister-in-law Kelly Forsley; as well as her dog, Willow.
A visitation will be held on Friday, August 16, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Heritage Oak Funeral Home in Huntsville. A memorial service will be held in Harriette's honor at 2 p.m. Saturday, August 17, at Heritage Oak.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to pediatric cancer patients at The St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
