George W. Locke, Jr., 83, passed away peacefully on July 17, 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of love, service, and unwavering devotion to his family.

George proudly served his country in the United States Air Force from 1961 to 1965, carrying the values of honor, dedication, and integrity throughout his life.

On October 2, 1968, George married the love of his life, Judy Alvena Frank. Together they built a life centered on love, family, and unwavering commitment, sharing 48 wonderful years of marriage before Judy's passing. Their marriage was a testament to devotion, partnership, and unconditional love.

Those who knew George will remember him as a man of quiet strength, dependable character, and a generous heart. If someone needed help, George was there. His family and friends knew they could always count on him, no matter the circumstance. He never sought recognition for the things he did; he simply believed that when someone you loved needed you, you showed up. That quiet faithfulness became the hallmark of his life.

Above all else, George was a devoted husband, an exceptional father, and a proud grandfather. Family was the center of his world. He was his children's biggest fan, rarely missing an opportunity to coach, encourage, or cheer them on in whatever sport they chose to play. As his family grew, that same love and enthusiasm extended to his grandsons. Whether it was a ballgame, school event, or another milestone, "Papa" was always in the stands, proudly cheering them on with an unmistakable smile. His presence at every game wasn't just expected—it was a constant reminder of how deeply he loved and supported his family.

George was also a devoted Houston sports fan. He faithfully rooted for the Houston Astros and the Houston Texans, celebrating every victory and standing by his teams through every season. Watching a game with family was one of life's simple pleasures, and sharing that passion with those he loved made those moments even more special.

Another of George's favorite pastimes was fishing. He loved spending time on the lake with family—or even just his faithful dog—trying to catch a few catfish. And if there were no witnesses, his catch always seemed just a little bigger, making for some unforgettable fish stories that brought smiles to everyone around him.

George was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Judy A. (Frank) Locke; his father, George W. Locke, Sr.; his mother, Faye Madeline (Creppon) Locke; his brother, Wayne Locke; and his sister, Alice Holliday.

He is lovingly remembered by his son, Kenneth Locke and wife, Leslie; his daughter, Penny Joiner and husband, Luther; and his cherished grandsons, Logan W. Smith and Luther "Tre" D. Joiner III. He also leaves behind many extended family members and dear friends whose lives were enriched by his kindness, wisdom, and steadfast support.

George's legacy is one of love, loyalty, hard work, and selfless service. He taught those around him the importance of showing up, keeping your word, and putting family first. He was a mountain of support for his loved ones—a man whose strength was matched only by his compassion. His presence made everyone around him feel safe, loved, and encouraged.

While his family grieves his passing, they find comfort in knowing that George has been reunited with the love of his life, Judy, and with the family members who went before him. His legacy will live on through the values he instilled, the unwavering support he gave so freely, and the countless memories he created with those he loved.

He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
