Her daughters are deep gratitude for their beloved mother's unwavering love and excellence. She was always present in their lives, nurturing them and raising them in the ways of the Lord. Her legacy of motherhood will continue to live on through them.

Evangelist Kathy's lifelong journey with the Lord began at Little Bethel Baptist Church under her late uncle, Pastor LV "Pop" Bryant. There, she was active in the choir and usher board. Later, she joined The Cathedral of United Praise under the late Apostle John Cephus. She was a member of Praise and Glory Worship Church under the leadership of Pastor Reginald Watkins for many years. As she deepened her faith, Kathy evangelized with confidence and authority, winning countless souls for Christ—a number known only to her Savior. Kathy Brown's unwavering commitment to serving others and her passion for spreading the Gospel leave an indelible mark on all who knew her.

Our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Evangelist Kathy departed this earthly life on Saturday, October 12th, 2024, assured by 2 Corinthians 5:1, "…if the earthly tent [our physical body] which is our house is torn down [through death], we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens." (Amplified version). Kathy passed peacefully at the hospital surrounded in prayer by her family and closest friends.

She was preceded in death by her father Rev. Freddie C. Short and mother, Johnnie Mae Bryant; late husband Walter Brown, Sr., grandson, Kharee Scott and two late brothers, Moses D. Minor, Jr., and Richard Simpson and two uncles, Rev. L V "Pop" Bryant and Clarence Bryant.

Left to cherish her memories, two children; SaMaria Boone (Arkelop) and Minister LaShekia Scott (Donnell Scott); eight grandchildren, Christopher Calegon (Dawn), Drakia Doughty (Damont), Dajiah Scott, Everette Coleman, Alexis Senso (Nicholas), Kourtnee Scott, Kylie Scott, and Kaleb Scott. Seven great-grandchildren, Hezekiah Coleman, Myla Calegon, Kori Villalongo, Cherish Calegon, Karsyn Villalongo; Noah Senso, and Christopher Williams Calegon; five brothers, Flemmon Minor (Stephanie), Dean Minor (Trachell), Wilbert Short, Dr. Fredrick Shaw (Irma), and Jonathan Wallace; five sisters Patricia Simpson (Gary), Elva Johnson (Cecil), Verstine Minor (Reggie), Christine Minor, and Renita Williams (Dexter); five uncles, James Bryant Jr. (Hattie Mae), LeRoy Bryant, Chuck Bryant (Zola), Robert Bryant (Bobbie), and Morris Shaw (Lenora); two aunts, Ann Watkins and Jean Jenkins; two sisters in love, Crystal Hagan and Mary Helen Utley-Prather; two Godmothers, Minister Ruby Wheaton and Linda Mills; two Goddaughters, Joyce Dewalt and Jacklyn Terrell; two devoted friends, Betty Humphrey and Ernestine Straughter; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends on Friday, October 25th from 2pm - 6pm at Heritage Oak Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 26th at 11am at Faith Family Church, 2407 SH-75 Huntsville, TX 77340. Interment will immediately follow at Northside Cemetery. Lunch will be provided following the graveside service at Family Faith Church.
