Eddie E. Smith, born in Dallas, Tx on August 9, 1947, passed into the arms of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on March 25, 2024. He was 76 years of age.

He graduated from McCaulley High School in McCaulley, Texas in Fisher County, where he played 6-man football and was a substitute bus driver. Eddie loved to show cattle in his hometown, surrounding areas and at the Houston Livestock Show.

He enrolled at Sam Houston State University as an agriculture student in the fall of 1966 and worked at the college Dairy Farm milking cows. His first semester of college, Eddie met Carol Grisham at a 4-H event while she was working the concession stand and later that spring Eddie gave Carol a Promise ring.

While dating as students at Sam Houston State University, Eddie could be found, when not at the Dairy farm, working with Carol's father Homer Grisham. Eddie was proving to him that he could be a good man and would make her a suitable spouse. Eventually gaining his permission to ask for her hand in marriage.

Eddie married the love of his life, Carol Grisham Smith on June 2, 1967 at First Baptist Church in Huntsville Texas. He supported her in all she did for 58 years. Eddie bought her a beautiful grandfather clock with the phrase engraved "To Carol from Eddie with love."  Eddie and Carol were blessed with two children, Jeff and Jennifer. He taught his children to love the Lord, show cattle, play football, and be a cheerleader, often traveling with them to their many events. He was very involved in the football support meetings, building props and other needed items.

Eddie loved his four grandchildren Bailey Lane Allison, Brinley Grace Allison, Morgan Nicole Smith and Marci Kayla Smith, adoring and supporting everything they were involved in.

Eddie was very active in the Walker County Fair Association serving several years as Vice President and then as President for two years. He helped move the fair arena to its current location and helped build all the current barns. He was involved with his wife and children at the Fair from daylight til long past dark.

Eddie and Carol taught children in Sunday School. They both faithfully attended First Baptist Church for 20 plus years, and then attended Northside Baptist church for at least another 20 plus years. His favorite song to Carol was "I'll Leave This World Loving You"... " If we never meet again this side of Heaven, I'll leave this world loving you."

Eddie was part of the Huntsville Bass Masters for 30 plus years winning many tournaments. He loved having boats.  His favorites were a bass fishing boat and later on a pontoon boat, which he enjoyed taking the family and grandkids on to his favorite vacation spots.

Eddie and Carol traveled to places such as Nashville, New York City, Denver, Eugene and Springfield Oregon, Florida, Oklahoma City, Louisiana, Nevada, Mexico and Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Kentucky, Ohio, Utah, California, and Washington, DC were also some of the many enjoyable vacations that were had.  Eddie enjoyed pulling his travel trailer to closer destinations especially for fishing.

Eddie and Carol hosted many families and friends' gatherings where he could showcase his love of cooking.  The menu would have been soups or Chili with Smith famous Cornbread and topped off with freezers full of homemade ice-cream.  Most of the vegetables and ingredients would most likely be acquired from his personal garden that he took great pride in establishing and caring for.  Prayer was always lifted up before every meal.

Eddie loved to play 42 and taught anybody willing to learn how to play including his students.  As a teacher at Huntsville High School, he enjoyed teaching his passion of Building Trades. Eddie built homes, churches, schools, businesses and even an air traffic control tower. He designed and built three homes for his beloved Carol and their children.  He was known for always adding a shop to all his projects where he could store and hide his fishing gear.  At one point Eddie and Carol lived in the shop while he completed the building of their final home.

He was preceded in death by his parents A. A. and Lavena Sue Smith and Carol's parents Homer and Helen Grisham.

Eddie is survived by his wife Carol and their two children, Jeff Smith and wife Bridget of Willis, Texas and daughter Jennifer Smith Allison and Wes Allison of Lorena, Texas along with his grandchildren. He is also survived by brother Bobby D. Smith (Connie), sisters Deborah Sue Pond (Norm), Arvanelle Pace (Johnny),  as well as Carol's siblings;  brothers Sidney Grisham, Mike Grisham (Val), Elwood Grisham (special friend Pam Wilcox) and sister Nancy Grisham Christian (Gary) along with many nieces and nephews.
