Obituary

Duane joined his Heavenly Father where he was reunited with his mother Katherine Dueber Hall Hutchinson, his grandmothers Regina Dueber and Marie Louise Upchurch Hall, his grandfather Elred A. Hall, and his dear friend Chris Jones. He left behind his sister, Sherri Ann Hall, father Arthur D. Hall (Melanie), aunt Betty Battles (Richard), uncle Ray Hall, his extended family, his beloved cats Shadow and Shelby, and his close friends, Alvin Wong, Douglas Schneider, Chris Napier, Jason Junot and Jeanie Elliott to survive without his loving support, laughter, and light.

Duane was an active member of the First Christian Church of Huntsville, Tx. He served as a leader of the Deacons, a worship team leader, and was a faithful member who rejoiced in helping both his church and church family. Duane touched many lives throughout his career as a Funeral Director and through his business, Park Area Mortuary Transport. He was called to his profession as a teenager upon the death of his mother. Her death and funeral impacted him profoundly. He said that the deceased deserved the upmost respect and that was his mission to uphold. He assisted thousands of families with his professionalism, empathy, warmth and kindness, navigate the painful loss of a loved one. Duane left such an impact on his clients that he constantly received beautifully expressed thank you letters.

Duane enjoyed collecting coffee mugs from his travels and funny socks. He enjoyed posting his dinners, that Sherri Ann cooked, every night to let everyone know that she was taking care of him as much as he took care of her.
He loved to travel. Some of his favorite memories were of his vacations in Hawaii with Alvin and Doug. He left part of his heart in San Francisco and longed to move there. Duane also had the gift of gab. He was goofy, sarcastic, scattered in his conversation sometimes and before you realized it, you had been talking for hours. He could always hold a conversation with anyone and walk away with a new friend. It was his true interest in others as well as his love of conversation that bonded him with everyone he came across upon.

Like his father, Duane collected toy cars and enjoyed watching old western movies. He always enjoyed the golden age of television and has often mentioned that those shows had the values and humor that were timeless. He refused to watch the 10pm news because it gave him nightmares. Sweet dreams Duane. We all will miss you.
