Dorothy Gay
Nell Hall
Jul 28, 1941 — Oct 13, 2025
Huntsville
Dorothy Gay Nell "GayGay" Hall, 84, of Huntsville, Texas, went home to be with her Lord & Savior on October 13, 2025. She was born on July 28, 1941, in Hatch, New Mexico, to Sam and Estella Lusk.
Gay Nell attended Jefferson Davis High School in Houston, Texas, and married the love of her life, Donald A. Hall, on July 30, 1958, in San Augustine, Texas. Together, they built a beautiful life grounded in family, faith, and hard work.
As visionary entrepreneurs, Gay Nell and Don were the Founders of Superior Homes and Superior Homes Custom, along with several other construction-related businesses. Gay Nell's leadership, dedication, and integrity earned her recognition as one of the Notable Women of Texas (1985) and inclusion in Who's Who of American Women (1984 & 1985). She retired in 2020 after a long and successful career.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Gay Nell was deeply devoted to serving others. She was a faithful member of Northside Baptist Church and gave her time generously to many causes, including serving as a Trustee for Special Olympics, a Board Member for the Houston Chapter of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, and a volunteer for Republican Women's organizations, the Angel Tree Prison Ministry, and the Hospitality House, to name a few.
She will be lovingly remembered by her children: Donna Ortego of Conroe, TX; Dean Hall and wife Cheryl of Huntsville, TX; and Diana Sansing and husband Keith of Edmond, OK. Gay Nell was "GayGay" to her cherished grandchildren: Donald "Scooter" & Jill Jefferson, Kristen & Hunter Heft, Deena Hall, Brittany & Cole Smith, Brandon & Jordan Sansing, Alyssa & Jon Alexander, and David Ortego, as well as 15 great-grandchildren who were her greatest joy.
She is also survived by her brothers Gordon, Gary, Glenn, Gerald, and Greg. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, brother Grady Lusk, husband Don Hall, and son David Hall.
Gay Nell's favorite saying was, "I'm blessed." And indeed, she was — blessed with a life full of love, laughter, purpose, and faith that touched everyone who knew her.
A time of visitation will be held at Northside Baptist Church in Huntsville, Texas, on Friday, October 17, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Funeral Services will take place at Northside Baptist Church on Saturday, October 18, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. with Graveside Service to follow at Brookside Memorial Park in Houston, Texas, at 2:30 p.m
Pallbearers will be Donald Jefferson, David Ortego, Brandon Sansing, Cole Smith, Jon Alexander, Jeremy Lusk, and Josh Lusk.
Gay Nell's family and friends will remember her radiant spirit, compassionate heart, and unwavering faith that left an indelible mark on all who were fortunate enough to know her.
To honor GayGay's life of faith and service, the family invites memorial gifts to be made to Northside Baptist Church Outreach, 1207 FM 980, Huntsville, Texas 77320, in lieu of flowers.
