Obituary

Dorothy Marie Gannaway Park Langley, lovingly known to all as either "Momma, Memaw, or Marie," went home to be with her Lord and Savior on May 25, 2026, at the age of 83.

Born on November 21, 1942, Marie was the cherished daughter of James "Jake" Cullen Gannaway and Alice Marie Akins Gannaway Parker in San Antonio, Texas. However, she was raised and lived a full life in and around Huntsville, Texas.

Marie was the heart of her family, the kind of Mom and Memaw anyone would be blessed to have. She loved fiercely, gave generously, and always made those around her feel safe, welcome, and deeply loved. Whether through her comforting words, warm
hugs, or quiet strength, Marie had a way of making life brighter for everyone she touched.

Marie dedicated many years of her life to serving others through her work. She began her career as a beautician, where her warm personality and caring spirit helped her form lifelong friendships with many of her clients. She later worked for State Farm Insurance Company and CP Insurance Agency before retiring from the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. No matter where she worked, Marie was known for her kindness, strong work ethic, and the genuine care she showed to everyone around her.

She leaves behind a beautiful legacy through her children: Dudley Park and wife, Kathy; Denise Franklin and husband, Elza; Rodney Park and wife, Donna; daughter-in-law, Samantha Park; and stepson, Kevin Langley and wife, Suzanne.

Marie was a proud and devoted Memaw to Cody Williams and wife, Jessie; Jayce Park and wife, Taylor; Garrett Wheat and wife, Miranda; Julie Kay Wheat; Courtney Park; Dawson Park and wife, Karissa; and Shelby Kutev and wife, Cassie. Her grandchildren were among her greatest joys, and the love she poured into each of them will live on forever. She was also blessed with great-grandchildren Adley, Arie, and Cullen Paul Wheat, who brought her so much joy and love.

She was preceded in death by her beloved parents; her devoted husband, John Langley; her son, Paul Lee "Tater" Park II; and her precious granddaughter, Keli Denise Williams.

Marie's faith in the Lord was the foundation of her life. She carried herself with grace, kindness, resilience, and a servant's heart. Though her family grieves the loss of such an incredible woman, they find comfort in knowing she is now at peace in the arms of Jesus and reunited with loved ones who went before her.

The family would also like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Hospice Benchmark for the compassionate care and support they provided during Marie's final days. Special thanks are extended to her devoted caregivers, Cindy Chesser and Jo Trewin, for their kindness and care. The family also acknowledges Aaron Haynes.

Marie will always be remembered for her loving spirit, her strength, her laughter, and the endless devotion she gave to her family. Her presence was a gift, her love was unwavering, and her memory will forever live in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

Pallbearers will be Dudley Park, Rodney Park, Elza Franklin, Cody Williams, Jayce Park, and Garrett Wheat.

Visitation will be held Friday, May 29, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Heritage Oak Funeral Home, 1080 Interstate 45 South, Huntsville, Texas 77340.
