Donald Edgar Armstrong passed away on July 25, 2024. He was born in Pasadena, Texas on December 17, 1948, to Edgar and Bonnie Armstrong.
Don grew up in Florida and moved back to Houston after he returned from Vietnam.

He spent three years working in Bosnia where he met his wife Dusanka. They were married for 25 years.

Don joined the army at the age of eighteen. He served in the 173rd Airborne Brigade, also known as the "Sky Soldiers". He was a proud member of the Casper Aviation Platoon, which was the only separate aviation platoon in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.

Don retired from Baytown Police Department where he worked as a police officer who cared deeply about the community and his fellow police officers. He particularly enjoyed working as a field training officer helping new officers learn and excel in performing their duties. After retirement, Don dedicated his life to rescuing abandoned and abused animals. With the help of his wife, he provided home and loving care to over forty dogs and cats over a period of twenty years.

Don loved fishing, working on antic cars, and doing woodwork. He was an avid pilot and boat captain. After retirement he sailed the Gulf of Mexico with his dog Sailor.

Don was devoted to his family He is survived by his beloved wife Dusanka; his sons Bryan and Jason; his daughter-in-law Erica Armstrong, and his sister-in-law Branka Rolovic. Don was also a proud grandfather to Gavin, Conor, and Kelsey, and to great grandchildren Della and Archer.

A memorial service will be held at Victory Baptist Church, 1800 E. Archer Road, Baytown, TX 7751, on Saturday, August 17, at 10:30 a.m.
