Don Beal went home to be with his heavenly father on January 9th, 2024. Born in Houston County Texas on January 22, 1930, to Joe Harvey Beal and Birdie Beal of Kennard, Texas. Don grew up on his family farm in Kennard, and like most young men of that era, he was responsible for tending their crops, livestock, and garden.

Don graduated from Kennard High School with a graduating class that consisted of five students. He achieved his bachelor's degree in Agricultural Education from Sam Houston State University.

After 24 years in the US Marine Corps, Don retired at the rank of Colonel. He fought in the Korean War and served two combat tours in Vietnam where he was awarded the Legion of Merit with a Combat V for conspicuous gallantry in actions against the enemy. While serving in the
Marine Corps he achieved his master's degree in financial management from George Washington University. He lived and died a Marine's marine.

Always an avid horseman and farmer, he took great pleasure in tending his hay crop, garden, horses, and cattle. He was an example to all who observed him.

A loving husband, father, uncle, brother and friend. The epitome of a father to his sons Dennis, Thurston, Gregory and Todd.

Don was a Deacon at Calvary Baptist church which he attended for over 40 years. He lived his Baptist faith every day.

Survived by his wife Catherine Foster Beal, his three sons Dennis, Thurston and Todd. He has six grandchildren, three great grandchildren, six nephews, and a number of great nieces and nephews.
