Dolores Teresa Macias Seaman passed away on May 18, 2026 after a long illness. Born on April 10, 1956 at St Joseph’s hospital in Houston, Texas to Carlos Macias Sr and Sophia Perez Macias, Dolores was the oldest of five children. Her brothers Carlos Macias and Larry Macias were her childhood playmates. Later, another sister, Ruby Macias (Milburn) and brother, Joe Macias were born and gave her endless joy and pride as she watched them grow up into adults.

She was raised in the greater Houston Heights area and that community played an important role in her life. Even after moving into other neighborhoods and cities, she always found her happy place in the Heights neighborhood.

Dolores’ early life was one of family and friends, playing in the creek beside their house that they affectionately called the “Bayou”. She loved seeing the fishes in the creek and the wild onions growing along its banks. She and her brothers would catch turtles and laugh when they saw small aquarium fish swimming free in the stream. She was raised with animals including dogs and cats and her “guard ducks”, always fondly remembering that they were better at guarding the house than the dogs were. From this early childhood, she developed a love of the outdoors that continued her whole life, preferring to go camping and spend time in nature over shopping trips and cafés.

She attended S.P. Waltrip High School in the Oak Forest Subdivision in Houston, graduating in 1976. While there she met her future husband, Randall Seaman, in Government class. Their first date was the Friday after coming back from Christmas break in her Senior year, 1976. After their first date, they were inseparable and were married on the 24th of August 1976.

A great love of fashion and jewelry formed her early career path and she worked at Foley’s Department Store in multiple locations and responsibilities and thought that she had found her calling in the fashion world. As the department manager of the jewelry store, she found gemstones and the geology behind them to be fascinating and was studying to be a gemologist.

But, life swerve, after two unsuccessful pregnancies, when she found out that she was pregnant for the third time, on the advice of her doctor, she quit work the same day and went straight home where she was mostly bedridden for the next nine months. On October 15, 1990 she was blessed with a daughter, Sara Elizabeth Seaman (Kulhman) and “my pride and joy” became the entire focus of her world. Dolores became the Room Mother at Sara’s schools, started a Girl Scout Troop at Sara’s request, took her to museums and zoos and parks, and everywhere she loved to explore. When Sara was in High School, she would pick her up from school in the Winter’s afternoons with a cup of hot chocolate waiting in the car.

When Sara no longer needed the support of Mom in her school life, Dolores decided to take another of her loves, Yoga, and make a new career out of it. She followed an intensive year long course in Yoga Therapy and worked with many people having debilitating physical conditions – automobile wreck survivors, cancer patients, older adults with mobility issues. She brought a style of teaching and working with people that was compassionate and based in her strong Christian Faith. She would often pray with them during her sessions. She was teaching older adult classes at the MD Anderson YMCA on Cavalcade. Several of the doctors from MD Anderson Hospital came to watch her teach, then began sending their cancer patients to her for health maintenance and recovery. She made a wonderful career of helping people and only truly found her calling in her second act.

Dolores lived a life of Faith, Family and Community. She was active in First United Methodist Church in Huntsville, Texas and St Stephens United Methodist Church in Houston’s Oak Forest Community, Later in life, her faith journey moved towards her original Catholic Faith and she carried these strong beliefs and traditions with her as she navigated her third and final act.
