Obituary

Glenda Diane Cushman, a vibrant soul from Huntsville, Texas, gracefully embraced eternal peace on January 4, 2024, following a courageous struggle against Alzheimer's, at the age of 74.

Diane was born on March 29, 1949, to Bill and Louise Waters in Fort Worth, Texas.  She graduated from Bell High School in 1967 and attended college at North Texas State University. Diane met the love of her life, Chris, in Fort Worth. They moved to Michigan and were married December 16, 1978. They returned to Texas in February 1980 to make Huntsville their home. They spent 45 wonderful years together.

Known for her hard work and dedication, Diane owned Schlotsky's Restaurant in Huntsville from 1980 to 1990. She then had a successful, long-standing career at Waters Construction Company.  She also actively contributed as a Key Club Member within the Walker County Chamber of Commerce.

In her free time, Diane enjoyed party and event planning where she would also cater and create beautiful cakes for birthdays, weddings, and special events. She delighted in preparing delicious meals for her loved ones. The most treasured chapters of her life were spent traveling the country to horse shows with her daughter, and vacationing with her family.

Diane was a beloved mother, wife, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. She will be remembered for her fun-loving spirit, selflessness, and contagious smile. She loved her family unconditionally and was a kind-hearted soul who gave her time generously to others. She will be greatly missed.

Diane's memory will be cherished by her loving husband, Chris; daughter, Amanda (Mitchell) Keathley; brother, Ronnie (Brenda) Waters; nephew, Aaron (Katie) Waters and two children; and nieces, Paige (Wes) Lorenzen and three children; and Lauren Waters.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Louise Waters; and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Robert and Alice Cushman.

Services will be held Saturday, January 13, 2024 at First Baptist Church in Dodge, Texas. Visitation begins at 10:00 am with funeral immediately following at 11:00 am. Lunch will be provided following the funeral service. A graveside service will not be held.
