David Lanoy
Harris
Feb 8, 1953 — Jun 15, 2026
New Waverly
David was lovingly known by all as Bear or Bear Bait. But his favorite title was PawPaw. Bear started his trip in Houston, Texas on February 8th, 1953. He finally ran out of road the morning of June 15th, 2026. He lived most of his younger years in Willis, Texas. He married his wife, Regina in 1971. Moving to New Waverly in 1976. A career truck driver, Bear worked for more than a dozen companies over the course of 44 years. Including CJ Barkley, Ray Ballew, Jimmy Phillips and Lewis Sedita.
He unwillingly retired from the road in 2015 when he began his first battle with cancer. His favorite truck was a Peterbilt, or really anything fast. He was a wealth of knowledge when it came to directions. Most of his directions involved some type of restaurant as a landmark.
He was a giant of a man with big bear paws. When those paws were on a steering wheel, he could put it down the road. He left miles of memories with the ones he loved.
He is survived by his wife, Regina Harris of 55 years. His son Dwayne Harris and wife Roxella, Daughter Malissa Harris, son Ryan Harris and wife Maggie. His grandsons Cory, Tyler and John Harris; Reagan and Rylan Harris. He also left six great grandchildren. He is survived by numerous other relatives and friends, and many kids he loved as his own.
