Obituary

In Loving Memory of David Scott Dees

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of David Scott Dees, who passed away peacefully on the morning of July 30, 2026

He was born on January 15, 1975 in Corpus Christi, Texas. He was the beloved child of Douglas Dwight Dees and Crystal Ann Holt. Throughout his life, he was known for his wonderful kindness, sincere generosity, dedication to family and his fellow man, and most especially his unwavering faith in God.

After graduating high school, David went on to work as a Correctional Officer for various prison units, most recently the Holliday Unit. He served the State of Texas for a total of 28 years. Outside of work, he enjoyed being with family, enjoying the outdoors, going for rides in his truck, and working with his HAM radios.

David was also a faithful Servant of God, walking in the light of our Lord Jesus Christ. He lived a life dedicated to the works of Jesus Christ and God by always praying for the souls of other people, through acts of sheer, random kindness, by comforting others in their times of need, and so many more. David was a member of the Knights of Columbus and he also brought forth the idea to his coworkers of the need to minister to his fellow Correctional Officers.

David is survived by his mother, Crystal Holt. His siblings: Amy Hernandez (Fidencio), Victoria Blake (Rick), Michael Dees (Shay), and Brian Dees (Meredith), He is also survived by his nieces and nephews: Cody, Nick (Sadie), Skyler Savannah, Cameron, Makenna and a great-niece, Odelia.

Those who knew David will remember him for his loving heart, unwavering faith in God, his gentle spirit, and his unfailing kindness. His love, compassion, and laughter touched many, many lives and will never be forgotten.

The family of David Dees would like to especially thank all of those fellow Correctional Officers who visited David during his time of illness, those who attend his Rosary and Visitation, those attending the funeral, and his Honor Guard. The family would also like to extend thanks to everyone whose life he touched in a personal way for all of the kind and wonderful things they have shared about him online. They would also like to thank everyone who cared for and visited David and assisted the family during this time of difficulty.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, August the 4th at 10 am at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Family and friends are invited to attend and celebrate David's life.

Though David now walks with God, the love and memories shared amongst his family, friends, and coworkers will remain in our hearts forever, especially his faithful little dog, Heidi.

A special thanks goes out to his hospice nurse, Gabriel.
