Obituary

David Bilberry, 69, of Houston, Texas died with his Home Team beside him on December 8, 2023. David was a family man who took every opportunity to put others before himself. The lasting impression he made on all he encountered will endure forever.

He was the first of five children to Charles and Jean Bilberry in Shreveport, LA in 1954. As a child, his favorite memories were often set at the family farm with his Papaw. When the family moved to Jackson, MS, David fell in love with baseball and played on many teams. David later moved to Houston, TX, where he attended the University of Houston and, with honors, earned his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. While in college, he made numerous life-long friends and met his wife, Jane, while she was working at an eyeglass store. They were married in 1979 and had two sons, Charlie and Matt. David always described his role as a father as his most important job, and he was incredibly good at it. As a mechanical engineer, his career in the oil field carried him through all of the industry downturns and included a 2-year expatriate stint in England. This was an incredibly special time for his family. Beyond his professional accomplishments, he found joy great joy in nature. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and sharing those moments with his loved ones.

David's favorite role in life was being a grandfather to Guy, Dylan, Savannah and Maverick. He treasured all things relating to his grandchildren. He attended every event possible, usually multiple in a day, beaming with pride as he cheered them on. They overflowed his heart with love and joy, which was constantly visible through his smile.

David faced life's challenges with immeasurable strength, given by his unwavering faith in Jesus Christ, and a calm demeanor that was inspiring to those around him. His compassion knew no bounds, and he dedicated himself to the well being of his family and friends. He credited his Lord and Savior daily for all of his blessings.
