Obituary

I have over 1000 kids Cynthia Jean Mogabgab Mullins would reply when  asked if she had any kids. Sunday, April 13, 2025 Mrs. Mullins went home to be with her Lord...and very likely some of those kids. Cynthia was born in Baton Rough, Louisiana to Eugene Mogabgab Jr. and Dorothy Norman in September 1946. Even at the early age of 6 she knew she wanted to be a teacher but there was one thing more she had on her mind back then. One communion Sunday at their First United Methodist Church in Thibodaux, Louisiana she told her mother, "You see that little boy with the bow tie, going up for communion, I am going to marry him when I grow up."

She was right on target with both - a substitute school teacher in the HISD system for nearly 40 years and on June 6, 1970 she married her one true love Doug Mullins a longtime radio broadcaster now retired. When the school district told Cindy she had to stop giving the kids hugs she retired too. Teaching came easy to her, especially as a substitute teacher but not with out a few bumps along the way. One day during a break with a group of students around her, she asked what they called her when she wasn't in hearing range. Naturally "We call you Mrs. Mullins" they all said. "Come on now, I know when I was going to school" Cynthia said, "we had some pretty choice names for our substitutes". After a little thought the students said "We call you THE MEAN GREEN MACHINE." After much scientific study the students had came to the conclusion some time ago that when Mrs Mullins showed up for class clad in something GREEN she was going to be in no mood for foolishness or horsing around that day!

Some of Cynthia's fondest memories were as an Eastern Star Past Matron of Huntsville chapter 240 and now also affiliated with Willis chapter 1017. She was so very proud to have recently received her 50 year pin.

Cynthia was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Eugene Mogabgab III, She is survived by her husband Douglas Mullins, sister-in-law Linda Pipes, nieces Dana Sweeney, husband Brian and Tricia Bingham husband Chris.
