Carolyn Gayle Wells McMillan was born in Pasadena, Texas on October 18, 1949 to Thomas Moneyhon and Elly Hoppens. Carolyn went home to be with her Lord on November 6, 2023. Her parents divorced when she was an infant, she and older brother David were adopted by their stepdad, Edmond Wells when he married Elly. The family made their home in Pasadena and were lifetime members of First Lutheran Church (currently Peace Lutheran Church).

Carolyn met the love of her life, James, and they married in Pasadena on February 8, 1969. The couple moved to California where James was serving in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. After James was discharged from the Navy, they returned to Pasadena and had two children. In 1980, James and Carolyn made the decision to move to Huntsville, Texas to "live the country life". The family ensconced themselves in the community and were soon working with other families in a shared calling to begin a new Lutheran Church. Prince of Peace Evangelical Lutheran Church was born.

Carolyn worked for many years at the Huntsville Item newspaper, she owned Media Works Advertising Agency, and also worked for Postcards Magazine. Carolyn spoke fondly of her years as a sales representative in her retirement.

Carolyn loved her Lord, her husband, and her family. Her husband, James William McMillan, Jr., her parents, and many family members and friends precedes Carolyn in death.

Carolyn is survived by her children, Symantha McCrerey and husband Michael; Wesley McMillan, and wife Kimberly, Her grandchildren, Bailey Rogers, Lauren Heysquierdo and husband Joseph, Paige Williams and husband James, Jake McMillan, Will McMillan, and Charlie McMillan. Her great-grandchildren, Kelsi and Brooklyn Heysquierdo and Malachi Williams. Brother, David Charles (DC) Wells; Aunt Bea Click; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Carolyn's absence will forever be felt but the impact she made on every life she touched was profound. The family request, in lieu of flowers a donation be made in Carolyn's name towards the research for the cure of diabetes or to your local animal shelter.

A celebration of Carolyn's life will be held at Southwood Restaurant located at 8053 SH-75 South; Huntsville, Texas. The service will be held on Sunday, November 12, 2023 at 2 PM. Please dress casually and bring a jacket as part of the service will be held outdoors. A meal will be served in Carolyn's honor.
