Bruce Calhoun Edwards

September 29, 1947 - September 22, 2026

Bruce Calhoun Edwards, 78, peacefully passed into God's hands at his home in

Huntsville, Texas, on September 22, 2026, with his family by his side. A beloved

husband, father, grandfather, brother, mentor, and friend, Bruce leaves behind a legacy

of steadfast faith, selfless service, quiet strength, and an enduring love for his family

that will live on in all who knew him.

Bruce was born on September 29, 1947, in San Antonio, Texas, the first child of Pauline

Elizabeth "Polly" Edwards and William Howard "Bill" Edwards. He spent his early years

in Bellaire, Texas, where he graduated from Bellaire High School in 1966 and began

forming the friendships, values, and sense of purpose that would guide him throughout

his life.

Bruce attended Texas Tech University and in 1967 felt the calling to serve his country.

He joined the U.S. Navy and was selected for specialized training in Coronado,

California. As a boat operator, he served alongside Navy SEAL Teams One and Two

during the Vietnam War. He served with honor, courage, discipline, and a deep sense

of duty-qualities that remained at the heart of the man he was.

After returning from Vietnam, Bruce built a distinguished career in commercial real

estate. Beginning as an engineer, he became one of the industry's early risk engineers

and helped guide major corporate investments and construction projects in Houston,

New York, and the United Arab Emirates. He was also called upon to lead emergency-

response efforts following major natural disasters in the Houston area and across the

nation. Bruce retired in 2015 from PM Realty Group as Executive Vice President and

Managing Director of Operations, leaving a lasting professional legacy and the gratitude

of the many colleagues and friends whose lives he touched.

Bruce's Christian faith was the foundation of his life and a source of strength, comfort,

and purpose. He gave generously of his time through his church and community.

Serving on the Saint Stephen's building committee and participating in men's ministry,

Bruce also volunteered with the Kairos Prison Ministry and other outreach efforts. He

sought to meet others with humility and kindness, and his devotion as a faithful brother

in Christ was evident in the way he lived and loved.

Bruce was an avid hunter who treasured time spent with friends and family in the field.

He was especially grateful for the incredible African safari trip to Zimbabwe. Those

closest to him will always picture him in his cowboy hat, walking his property, caring for

the deer and birds, or standing at the barbecue preparing a meal for his children and

grandchildren. In these familiar moments, Bruce's warmth, generosity, and deep love

for his family shone brightest, creating memories they will hold close forever.

Bruce's memory will be lovingly carried forward by his wife, Marta Edwards of 24 years;

children, Michael Edwards, Eric Edwards and his wife Michelle, and Katie Edwards;

grandchildren, Harrison Edwards and his wife Cate, Adam Hussaini, Sophie Edwards,

Miriam Hussaini, Aiden Springer, and Lyla Springer; stepson, Jamey Douglas "JD"

Franklin; brother, Greg Edwards and his wife Araceli; and nephew, Christopher

Edwards. Bruce was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Polly, and his stepson,

Tyler Franklin.

Though deeply missed, Bruce will remain forever present in the stories, lessons, and

love he shared with those who were blessed to know him.

Funeral service will be held at Saint Stephen's Episcopal Church in Huntsville, Texas,

on October 5th at 2:00pm where we will celebrate Bruce's life of faith, service, and love.

Reception will follow immediately at the church. Bruce will receive full military honors

and will be laid to rest at the Houston National Cemetery on Oct. 6th at 10:45am.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial contribution may be made to the Saint Stephen's

Episcopal Church Building Fund which was near and dear to Bruce's heart.
